SEVERAL LONG ISLAND PROJECTS REACH DESIGN MILESTONE

GOSR has procured five architecture-engineering firms to design 12 flood-risk reduction projects within the Living with the Bay program area on Long Island. Four of those projects–Smith Pond, East Rockaway High School/Lister Park, the Greenway, and the Coast Field Station/Marsh Restoration–have reached the 30% design level, a critical benchmark in the design process. In addition, marsh restoration design where Mill River meets the Long Island Sound has reached the point of state and federal regulatory review. Construction of the Hempstead Lake State Park component–including dam repair, spillway improvements, and habitat restoration–could begin this winter. Learn more>>
