OVER $1.1 BILLION IN FEDERAL DOLLARS PLEDGED TO RBD PROJECTS SINCE COMPETITION

The awarded Rebuild by Design projects have reached over $1.1 billion in federal funding. The federal government has continued to invest in and recognize the innovations that these projects have brought to the region with the recently announced awards from the National Disaster Resilience Competition (NDRC).

Bridgeport, Connecticut

HUD awarded over $35.7 million of NDRC funding to Connecticut for flood protection and resilience measures developed for Resilient Bridgeport from the Rebuild by Design competition. See Governor Malloy’s press release for information.

New York City

NDRC awarded New York City $176 million to support the development of the Lower Manhattan Project and Connect Project which will construct a coastal protection system that will enhance the connection between neighborhoods, add green spaces and seating areas, and retail areas, and protect public housing projects that are vulnerable to storm surge and flooding. This funding also builds upon the $100 million Mayor de Blasio committed to Lower Manhattan’s coastal resiliency work. Read more.
