MEADOWLANDS, AUGUST UPDATE

At the most recent Citizens Advisory Group (CAG) meeting, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) updated stakeholders about the progress of the Draft Public Scoping Document. They reported that the CAG and public expressed similar feedback. The feedback informed the scope of study for the forthcoming draft environmental impact statement (DEIS), which is being developed by NJDEP and the project team.

The DEIS and the project will focus on the flood protection component of the original Rebuild proposal “Protect, Connect, Grow” concept, reducing the risk of flooding in the five municipalities of Little Ferry, Moonachie, South Hackensack, Carlstadt, and Teterboro. NJDEP analyzed the pros and cons of the three alternatives based on criteria presented to the public. For more information about the project, check out the NJDEP’s Meadowlands Newsletter
