The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select a contractor to build Living Breakwaters is underway, which will result in a list of qualified contractors who will then receive an Invitation for Bids. New York State’s Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery plans to identify a contractor by late summer/early fall. The application for the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) permit is now complete, and the public comment period will be in effect until 7/26/19. To comment, send a letter to Donad Klazcko at NYSDEC, 47-40 21st Street, Long Island City NY 11101. After the comment period, the DEC permit should follow, then soon thereafter the permit issued by the US Army Corp of Engineers.
