HUDSON RIVER PROJECT, AUGUST UPDATE

Over 150 residents  convened at last month’s Hudson River Project Public Meeting to learn the criteria and metrics that the State of NJ will use to select a design alternative. The presentation modeled the anticipated reduced risks of stormwater flooding. NJDEP Project Team presented five overarching criteria: flood risk reduction, socioeconomic and built environment, benefit-cost analysis, construction maintenance and operations, and environmental impacts.

The project will be designed to enable Hoboken and adjacent low-lying parts of Jersey City and Weehawken to resist, delay, store, and discharge flood waters. Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer underscored the importance of the project by commenting on the stormwater flooding that occurred several days prior to the meeting. Learn more>>
