Join Rebuild by Design at New Jersey Future’s Redevelopment Forum, featuring a Plenary Session called Getting Ahead of Climate Change.

Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Sandy and Winter Storm Jonas are all reminders that a changing climate will have very real impacts on our way of life — not just at the Jersey Shore, but across the state. And these changes won’t always manifest themselves in the form of named storms, but will also include things like more frequent heat waves, heavy rainfalls and chronic tidal flooding. What should New Jersey residents and policy makers know and do in order to prepare? This plenary session will highlight what the latest science tells us as well as explore how New Jersey has (or has not) responded to date; what the insurance industry is doing to calculate the economic implications of climate risk; and the steps cities and states should take, in light of that science.
