REBUILD ONE CITY PARADE AND PARTY

March 22, 2014

12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

St. Stephen AME Zion Church, Asbury Park

On Saturday, March 22, residents, youth groups, community organizations, and environmentalists joined together for “Rebuild One City,” a participatory parade and party celebrating community resilience in Asbury Park post-Hurricane Sandy. The parade symbolically united Asbury Park’s westside and eastside communities, and highlighted proposals from Rebuild by Design to strengthen the city’s streets, coastal lakes, the beach, and boardwalk against future storms. The parade ended at Langosta Lounge on the boardwalk for a party with free food, live music by local musicians, and interactive educational activities about storm protection, native plants, and local initiatives to build community resilience.
